I decided to follow my heart: to give myself body and soul to the literary universe

Hey readers, my name is Izabela Beirão and, in this first post, I'd like to tell you a little bit about my story so that you can get to know me. From a very young age, I remember loving books. Whether it was the illustrations, the covers or the story itself. I liked being in that universe. I learned to read earlier "than you'd expect" - I don't like to use that expression because I believe that each child has their own time and, if that time is respected, the results and benefits will be the same, regardless of whether it's before or after. That's why I put quotation marks - in a type of literacy that my mother says was very beneficial in building this love of literature. I learned in my own time. I wasn't prevented from learning because "it wasn't time". Much less was I forced to read "because it was past time". Today, I can see that this certainly contributed to the emergence of this passion.

Over the years, this increased. The book covers were something that particularly attracted me. I'd walk into a bookstore and that was it. Before I'd even read the synopsis or the book jacket, I'd have it in my hands to buy.

So, when it came to college, I chose journalism. As well as loving to read, I loved to tell stories and I also had the desire to change the world with my words. During the course, I realized that this desire depended on so many factors and not just my voice. I ended up being frustrated by this.

As soon as I graduated, I went into corporate communications, which I fell in love with and abandoned the idea of changing the world with my voice. I opened my own communications agency in 2009 and decided to change the world of small groups. That's what I've been doing for 10 years.

However, I always felt that something was missing to fill me up. I was happy with my profession, with my agency, with telling my clients' stories, but I wasn't complete.

Then I realized that I needed to pursue my dream, my goal, my real purpose in life. In a couch process carried out in 2018 - I've always enjoyed developing myself and getting to know myself - I managed to clarify my ideas a little - I discovered that I had to unite my skills with my dreams and vocation.

And that certainly meant immersing myself body and soul in the world of literature. So here I am. Here are the steps I'm taking to achieve this:

  1. I've created my YouTube channel. Livros da Bela will feature literary reviews of the books I read, comments on the publishing market around the world, interviews and I'd also love to establish an exchange with you who, like me, believe that the beginning of change starts with literature, whatever it may be.
  2. I've created my website, where I'll do more in-depth book reviews and also comment on the publishing market. I'll also use all my journalistic resources to interview writers and cover book launches. Another dream come true is that on my website I'll have an Amazon store where you can directly buy any book, series, movie or any kind of stationery.
  3. I created all the social networks to get closer to you, who also see the world the same way I do.
  4. I've been working on an old project to write my first novel and I'm very happy with it. We'll have more news soon!
  5. I'm studying a lot about literature and creative writingso that I can produce consistent content. The next course will be Creative Writing Telling Your Family Storyin April at the University of Cambridge, England.

So here I am, setting out to build a YouTube channel with lots of news about the publishing industry, with interviews, comments, news, reviews and lots of cool stuff.

I hope I can count on you on this journey!

If you have a dream, believe that you can achieve it!
