Raw meat: a wound to the soul

After all, what are the boundaries of ethics? What are the limits of what is acceptable? The last Rubem Fonseca's last words in his latest book, Carne Crua (Raw Flesh), are a portrait of urban violence, as is his entire oeuvre. urban violence, just like his entire oeuvre. This is the great legacy left by him for our literature! The cover already made me choke and nauseous. But at the same time, it made me want to read those pages.

During reading, I realized how much those harsh, painful and, to some extent, pessimistic words are real and pessimistic are real and part of our daily lives. Many closer to us, others not so much. But they are no less impactful and revolting. The short stories translate reality through the author's lens. And seeing the world the way he saw it is suffocating, just like the cover of this book. Rubem Fonseca shows us how much the world we live in has disturbed him for all those years years in which he dedicated his life to writing. And certainly to his readers too. In fact, with simple associations and necessary connections, we can make a very real panorama of various nuances of our society through dry words, in a naked and raw, painful, but brilliant way.
