Screams of Silence: the past does not forget

The book Screams of Silence, by Angela Marsons, is a crime thriller whose main character is a detective, Kim Stones - this character is very reminiscent of Agatha Christie's detectives. Right at the start of the plot, the story tells of five people digging a grave to bury the body, apparently of an innocent victim. Afterwards, these people sign a pact of absolute silence, so that these secrets are buried along with the victim. The story is told in retrospect, as it takes place 10 years later. After these years, some murders begin to appear in Rowley Regis, in the Black Country region of England, bringing to light the past of a girls' orphanage and its secrets.

That's when Detective Kim and her partner Braynt come into play. In her search and investigation, she tries to find this serial killer (or killers) and also assess whether there is a connection between the crimes. All that can be assumed at the start of this plot is that all these murders that are taking the city by storm may have some connection to this crime from the past that is under lock and key, after a promise of silence from all those involved.
